Vince Ready Arbitration Decision

The attachment below is for the Vince Ready's decision on our Collective Agreement, which is binding on both parties.

Except for a few small amendments, the decision is based on the Agreement recommended by Labour Relations Board mediator Mark Brown.  Mr. Ready has awarded an additional five cents per hour each year for drivers and $400,000 as a one-time lump sum payment for the Union to distribute to the members as it deems appropriate.  Also, MVT must apply for membership in the Municipal Pension Plan.

The decision will be discussed further at the next Membership Meeting on Thursday, January 28th at 7:00pm at the Union Hall.  Copies of the Agreement will be available in electronic or hard copy after it is proofread and printed.

Although we have had a difficult year and did not achieve everything we hoped for, we can all be proud that we stood up for ourselves and fought off the major concessions that MVT was proposing.  Your Executive Board would like to thank all of you for your efforts, especially the Negotiating Committee, Picket Captains and the many others who went beyond the call of duty.  We can never forget the sense of unity that has developed among us.

In Solidarity, ATU Local 1724 Executive Board.
